Rheumatoid Arthiritis Exercise

Exercise might be the last option on the mind, when someone has stiff and painful joints. Patients should do exercise regularly to take care of their self and reduce the pain in joints.

Importance of exercise

There are various kinds of exercise, which are safe for people who have suffered from rheumatoid arthritis. Patients can do strengthening, conditioning and stretching to reduce the joints pain.

Strength exercise

Strength exercise can be done with or without weights. It involves working the muscle against resistance. It may increase the amount of activity and relieve severe pain.

Stretching exercises

Stretching exercises are beneficial and easiest for rheumatoid arthritis. Stretching may help to improve flexibility. They holding different muscle and joint groups for ten to thirty seconds.

Conditioning exercise

Conditioning exercise is also known as aerobic exercise, and help to improve cardiovascular fitness. There are lots of benefits to aerobic exercise. It is very useful to make blood vessels and heart healthier and prevent disability.

Conditioning exercise for people, who are suffered from rheumatoid arthritis include low-impact activities such as swimming, walking, using an elliptical machine or bicycling. All of these exercises will get the heart pumping.

Low-impact conditioning exercise should do 20 to 30 minutes by health care providers for feeling better.

Exercises to avoid, in case of people with arthritis

People should do exercise that put a lot of stress on a joint, such as heavy weight lifting and jogging, especially on paved roads. Before trying any of the exercise, patient should talk to the health care providers.

Rheumatologist will be helped to create an exercise program that is beneficial for people with rheumatoid arthritis. Physical therapists will help to choose the right exercise for the patients and idenfiy what areas are better for exercises.

There are various community exercise programs designed which are very effective for people with rheumatoid arthritis. The arthritis foundation offers the Arthritis Self Help Course (ASHC) and People with Arthritis Can Exercise (PACE).

Before starting any type of exercise, patients should design the right plan, especially in case of other medical health problems. Therefore, exercises are very useful to control of the rheumatoid arthritis.
