General Arthritis Diet

Arthritis is caused due to stiffness, pain and inflammation in the joints. So, every person suffering from arthritis is advised to eat a healthy and balanced diet. There is no such food or diet which can cure arthritis but a person can cure arthritis by avoiding or including certain foods.

The person should contact the doctor about the diet which one has to take during arthritis. There are certain recommendations which a person with arthritis must include in the diet and they are:-

  • Avoid fasting or crash dieting
  • Drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids
  • Eat a balanced diet
  • One has to keep weight under control by reducing the amount of fats consumed in the diet
  • Increase dietary calcium to reduce the risk of osteoporosis

The food which one has to take to reduce arthritis should keep a food diary. Then the person can make an idea which food one has to take. After that one should eliminate certain foods from their diet to check the cause of arthritis.

The food which provides essential vitamins, proteins and minerals should be taken in the diet to cure arthritis. Evidence shows that overdose of diet and excessive weight influences the symptoms of arthritis and can be the cause for other conditions. There are certain foods which can relieve general arthritis and they are:-

Vegetables which are rich in Vitamin A and Vitamin C:-

  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Spinach
  • Squash
  • Bell Pepper
  • Broccoli

Fruits which are rich in Vitamin C:-

  • Mango
  • Papaya
  • Strawberries
  • Apples
  • Peaches

Pulses and Grains:-

  • Brown rice
  • Chick Peas
  • Whole wheat bread

Anti-inflammatory foods:-

  • Ginger
  • Apples
  • Turmeric
  • Garlic

Unsalted Nuts and Seeds which are rich in Omega-3 and Vitamin E:-

  • Sunflower seeds
  • Almonds
  • Walnuts
  • Pumpkin seeds

The foods which are rich in vitamins and minerals should be taken by the arthritis patient according to the diet prescribed by the doctor.

Certain food such as coffee, tea, fried foods, tomatoes, red meats, chocolate and certain drugs should be avoided from the diet. Balanced diet can improve general arthritis. Excess weight can be the cause for general arthritis so the person should consider the healthy diet. Weight can be reduced by eating a diet which is rich in nutrition, performing certain exercises like swimming and exercise activities should be limited to unaffected joints.

Hence, the person affecting with general arthritis should take essential nutrients in the food and diet so that one can relieve pain in the joints and arthritis can be cured to some extent.
